Growing in Christ
As elders of C3, we want to focus our efforts on the primary task Christ has given us: equipping the saints for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-16). This course is designed with four key aims:
First, at the most basic level, it helps our people clearly see from Scripture why Christians do what we do. Why do we gather for church on Sunday? Why do we preach the Bible? Why do we pray? Why do we sing? Are these practices merely Christian traditions, or do they have solid biblical roots?
Second, the course helps our people understand that God has not given the church a confusing or unclear playbook for growing in the character of Christ (holiness) and in obedience to Him (mission). He has given us clear means of grace to which the church should be devoted. While these means may not always be easy to walk in, they are not unclear.
Third, this course aims to show our people that the ordained activities (means of grace) of the church are fundamentally dependent upon the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit, who lives in every believer and is actively at work in the Body of Christ. These God-ordained means are fueled by the living God Himself.
Finally, we want to connect the dots for our congregation and show how C3 is actively practicing these means of grace in our various ministries. Ultimately, the course is designed to call everyone to join us in following Jesus.
