1 Corinthians: This Beautiful Mess

Paul writes the letter 1 Corinthians to address a number of problems troubling the church. Their view of marriage, eating meat sacrifices to idols, how women should adorn themselves in public worship, their observance of the Lord’s Supper, the point and purpose of spiritual gifts, the resurrection of the dead, fighting, quarreling, division over favorite preachers and teachers, and arguing over a case of incest which some in the church condoned, were only some of the challenges it faced. The Corinthian church had significant issues. Thankfully, they had a significant Savior who lovingly and patiently sought them out through the Apostle Paul. This letter exists to help us honestly and biblically address the perplexing challenges we face in our own culture, as well as timely instruction for facing challenges existing within our own church. Join us as we wrestle with what it means to be a church in the city, for the city, while seeking the city above.
