Lantz Bowman, from Lubbock, grew up attending a small Southern Baptist church and witnessed his mom pray to receive Christ at the kitchen table during a Saturday morning visitation by the pastor. Lantz soon followed in his own profession of faith at the age of 8 but it was the strength of his mother’s faith during her five-year battle with breast cancer that would have the most significant impact on him. She died when he was 15 years old; her unwavering trust in God’s sovereignty would be one of the building blocks in Lantz’s journey of faith. While in college at Texas Tech University, Lantz grew in his relationship with the Lord through personal study and by being discipled by one of the Bible teachers from his church’s college ministry.
Since May 1999, Lantz has worked with Ronald Blue & Co. as a financial planner, helping his clients apply biblical principles of money management so they can better steward the resources God has put under their care.
While attending Houston’s First Baptist Church, Lantz became involved in the Singles’ Department and there met his future wife, Kelly. They were married in October 2001 and were blessed with their son, Hunter, in 2005 and then with their daughter, Mia, in 2007.
Lantz and Kelly have been active at C3Houston since late 2012. Since then, they have been active in C3Kids and leading the Fairfield CG. Lantz has also served on C3’s finance team. Lantz is humbled and honored to be a member of the elder team. He desires to use his gifts to bring glory to God and help toward C3’s commitment to Word, Community and Mission.
Brandon Clarke is a native Houstonian. Brandon came to the Lord at a summer camp when he was young. While in high school, Brandon was mentored through Student Venture (CRU for High Schools) and began attending Northwest Bible Church with friends. God used the love of friends and his Student Venture mentor to show Brandon a deeper connection to spiritual disciplines. Brandon attended Texas A&M University where he attended Grace Bible Church and was a member of BYX (Brothers Under Christ).
After college, Brandon worked for a short time as a 6th grade teacher in Aldine ISD at Caraway Intermediate School before attending law school at South Texas College of Law. Brandon met his bride, Beth, at a super bowl party for a single life class at Second Baptist Church. The two were married in Brandon’s second year of law school, in 2003. Brandon has worked as an office tenant representation broker at CBRE since 2006.
Brandon and Beth have been blessed with 6 children: Rebecca (2004), Cooper (2006), Harrison (2008), Elaina (2010), Cohen (2014), and Emelia (2016). TTheir older children have made a public proclamation of their faith and were baptized in our church. Additionally, Brandon’s parents, James and Linda attend C3, and his father recently professed his faith through baptism, after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke in late 2014.
The Clarkes have been very grateful for their time at C3 and the spiritual growth they have seen in their family. They began coming to C3 in January of 2012. While driving home after the first service they attended, their children were reciting Bible verses they had learned and continued requesting they be able to come back to C3. The Lord used their willing hearts and our church body to convince the Clarkes that this church was for them. They teach in C3Kids and also have led a Community Group. Brandon and Beth are passionate about several ministries, including Forgotten Voices, CRU, Desiring God, and others focused on aiding orphans, widows, the poor and needy, and captives.
Michael Roberts was born in Dallas and raised in San Antonio. After attending church on and off with his family, Michael began Young Life in high school. He heard the Gospel clearly taught at a Young Life camp in Colorado his sophomore year of high school. During that trip, he placed his faith in Christ, thus beginning a process by which God would lead faithful men in his life to train and disciple him in God’s word.
Michael learned how to study God’s word and developed a love for the Church during his time at the University of North Texas in Denton. College brought his now-wife Brooke into his life. God allowed them to participate in various ministries during their 4 years of dating, including Back Yard Bi- ble club for inner city kids, and CollegeLife. While at UNT Denton, Michael felt a strong desire to go into full-time ministry. Shortly after graduation, he completed a 9 month Bible program, married his bride, Brooke, and accepted a job as a Student Pastor in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
In Arkansas, Michael & Brooke helped plant Fellowship Bible Church of Jonesboro in 2002. They would grow their family by three more with the births of Emery (9), Landry (7) and Jameson (5) during their time there. While serving in Jonesboro Michael attended Dallas Theological Seminary by extension, graduating in 2011 with a Masters in Biblical Studies. Later that year, God lead the Roberts family back to Texas where Michael served as an associate pastor at Christ Fellowship – Preston Campus (a church plant) in Celina, Texas. Michael worked for Graphic Solution Group out of Dallas to supplement his income while working part-time for the church. The church in Celina was not big enough to bring him on full-time, so Michael and Brooke began praying for guidance. In May of 2014, God opened the door for Michael to become the branch Manager for GSG in Houston, where he is currently employed.
Michael currently teaches in our C3Kids program, with Brooke serving as C3Kids Coordinator. Michael & Brooke love Jesus and strive to lead their children to know and follow hard after Christ. They love their C3 family and are honored to serve alongside God’s people striving to make Christ known in a city and world that desperately need Him.
Skip Stites was born in Georgia, but has lived in Houston since the age of three. He grew up in Spring Branch and attended Spring Branch Community Church until middle school, when his family joined Houston’s First Baptist Church. In fifth grade, Skip’s mom led him to Christ while she read the book of Matthew to him. Even at a young age, Skip remembers feeling broken over his sin and grateful for a savior. Skip’s new faith was tested by his parents’ divorce soon after. God used the church to teach Skip about the importance of scripture and the power of prayer. God’s word, youth leaders, and his friends’ parents guided him through the difficult years of not having a father.
Skip began serving Christ by teaching high school students at Westview Mission while attending the University of Houston. After graduating from U of H, Skip worked in IT at UCC Direct. He served in the college class at Houston’s First Baptist for eight years, before meeting Devon. Skip and Devon got married in 2001, and they continued to serve in the college ministry together. During this time, they grew in their understanding of God’s glory and his sovereignty through Jay Brown’s teaching and also through John Piper’s ministry.
After working at UCC Direct for several years, Skip left the corporate world and began working at The Joy School, where he has been for the last twelve years. He has enjoyed serving the students and staff as Director of Technology.
Skip and Devon have 4 children: Lauren(13), Jonathan(11), Owen(10), Leah(6). The Stites are thankful for the community and teaching they have received at C3. Over the years, teaching in the children’s ministry and hosting a community group has been a learning experience for Skip and Devon and has given them much joy. Skip is honored and humbled to be an elder candidate and looks forward to continuing to serve the body in this role.
