Generation One ministers in Houston's Third Ward with a vision of spiritual growth and physical rebuilding of the area. Generation One's motto is to: "Love Them Through the Storm." Since 2007, Generation One has been faithful to the Lord's calling by involving themselves in the lives of the kids within this community and being God's hands and feet to serve their neighbors in practical ways.

To help break the cycle of poverty within the Third Ward, Generation One's main focus is working with the youth of the community. In 2011, the Lord lead them to start a one-of-a-kind private Christian school. In August of that year, classes began at Generation One Academy. Their mission is to provide individualized education and remove the obstacles that hinder development. Because of Generation One's belief that salvation is essential to a successful life, in addition to academic instruction, spiritual guidance is a core part of the curriculum.

Generation One's ministry also works to rebuild the Third Ward and help create a safer, cleaner, better neighborhood. Their goal is to provide a better quality of life for their neighbors by removing and demolishing hazardous buildings, repairing and repainting all occupied houses, and clearing and mowing vacant lots. They accomplish this goal by partnering with volunteers, local churches, businesses and ministries and by organizing and facilitating projects within the community.

There are many opportunities for you and your family to serve and volunteer with Generation One this summer. Maybe your family would enjoy working together to repaint a house or help clean up an area of the neighborhood. Or your family might like to get involved in Generation One's summer program, Living In Victory Eternally (LIVE). Please also pray for this ministry as they work to spread the Good News and reach lives through Christ's love.
